• Head south on 4th Street (Hwy 75) to Neosho Street (second set of stoplights)
• Turn right (west) onto Neosho Street
• Head down Neosho St seven blocks to 11th Street
o You'll pass a 4-way stop sign, courthouse and school
• Turn left on 11th St (destination is on your right)

Coming from the SOUTH on US Hwy 75

• Head north on 4th Street (US Hwy 75) about ½ mile to Neosho Street (stoplights)
• Turn left (west) onto Neosho Street
• Head down Neosho Street seven blocks to 11th Street
o Your will pass four way stop sign, courthouse and school
• Turn left on 11th street (destination is on your right)

Coming from the EAST on 12th Rd/Neosho St

• Head west down Neosho Street to 11th Street
o You will pass through, stoplights, four-way stop sign, courthouse and school
• Turn left on 11th St (destination is on your right)

Coming from the WEST on 12th Rd/Kennebec

• Turn right (south) onto 16th St at the 4-way stop sign • Turn left (east) onto Neosho Street • Turn right (south) onto 11th St (destination is on your right)

Museum Map

Located at 1101 Neosho St. in Burlington, the Coffey County Museum boasts 14,000 square feet of display space. Among its features are:

Code of Conduct

We are committed to ensuring that all visitors have a pleasant and safe experience while supporting our duty to preserve and protect our artifacts. We kindly request that all visitors adhere to our Code of Conduct:

  • Please refrain from touching any artifacts unless invited to do so by museum staff or indicated by signage designating an artifact as interactive.
  • Chains and barriers are in place for the protection of both the artifacts and visitors. Please do not cross these barriers or engage in any activity that may damage them.
  • We encourage courteous behavior towards fellow visitors and staff. Please maintain an appropriate volume when speaking.
  • We ask that you navigate the museum with care and avoid running.
  • Food and drinks are not permitted in the galleries.
  • Pets and other animals are not allowed in the museum, with the exception of service animals as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Please avoid any behavior that may endanger visitors or artifacts, as determined at the sole discretion of museum staff and volunteers.
  • You are welcome to take photographs during your visit while being considerate of other visitors and staff.

Gift Shop

The Coffey County Museum Gift Shop is situated in the Sunflower Gallery at the museum entrance. The shop offers a variety of books, souvenirs, and other thoughtful gifts. It operates in alignment with the museum's hours. Please note that all sales are final. The museum accepts cash and checks (identification will be required for verification on checks). At this time, we do not accept credit or debit cards.

Rentals

The Bethel Church is available for wedding rentals. Please note that, in accordance with Fire Code regulations, the maximum capacity for the church is 100 individuals. The pews accommodate 50 guests, with the option to set up an additional 50 folding chairs if necessary. Access to the church is exclusively through the museum.

It is important to mention that the church has limited electrical capacity and does not have heating or air conditioning. Further details can be found in the Church Rental Agreement. For availability and additional information, please contact the museum.
